SEED Wave exists to recruit, train, and send 1.5 & 2nd generation Korean North Americans and build up healthy KNA churches.
We aim to pursue this vision by:
- Underscoring Korean church’s legacy & spirituality.
- Understanding God’s global plan through Korean Diaspora Movement.
- Utilizing bicultural/bilingual strength.
Greetings in Christ’s love!
Over the past 7 years I’ve had the privilege of serving on the board of SEED International. During that time I’ve come to realize that Korean-American churches can be a real force in the work of world missions. I’ve also noticed that across the board the Korean-American church is both eager and ready to serve in the global harvest field. SEED International continues to partner with the local church to recruit, train, and mobilize missionaries.
On our last meeting (Fall of 2006), the board unanimously approved the plan to form an “EM” version of SEED that would cater specifically to the 1.5 and 2nd generation in the Korean-American Church. Among the 4 original “EM” board members I was asked to serve as the president. Then, in our first meeting (Feb. 2007), we came up with the name “SEED WAVE” and also decided on our mission statement as well as our distinction (whose details can be viewed above).
The current board members serve as senior pastors in Korean-American churches. We plan to add at least 4 more pastors from both the 1st generation and 2nd generation churches.
Our aim is to tap into the great spiritual reserve within the K-A 1.5 and 2nd generation and utilize our bilingual/bicultural strengths to expand Christ’s Kingdom. We believe the K-A church has much more to offer in the Kingdom work. We desire to be a blessing in the world as we have been blessed here in North America.
Joel prophesies that in the last day God will pour out His Spirit upon all of His people, and 3 generations will together see His vision and dream His dreams (2:28). We are certainly living in such a time! May we see our distinction among different generations not as liabilities but as strengths. And ultimately may we march together as the Church Universal as we seek to raise the banner of Jesus Christ all over the world.
Christ alone!
